USFT Again Assumes Integral Role at Super Bowl

OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 28, 2013) – When Super Bowl XLVII unfolds Feb. 3 in New Orleans, many of the details have changed from last year’s game. The opponents and locale are different; even the moniker of Harbowl and Super Gras have been attached to this year’s classic, as the Harbaugh brothers will be opposing coaches when Baltimore and San Francisco tee it up for the gridiron World Championship. However, one constant is fast becoming a Super Bowl tradition, and remains intact at the 2013 Super Bowl.

This marks the seventh consecutive year USFT has been appointed as the sole live GPS tracking company helping facilitate movement of people, equipment and transportation smoothly and efficiently through New Orleans and the surrounding areas.

“The safety and security of athletes and personnel are our highest priority,” said Jerry Hunter, USFT founder and chief executive officer. “Security always takes top priority especially with sporting events of this magnitude. Our tracking devices monitor the exact location of anyone or anything deemed necessary, be it an equipment bag, a team bus, limousines transporting dignitaries or even elected officials and personnel.”

USFT is the original developer and leading manufacturer of live tracking systems. Thanks to its breakthrough technology allowing second-by-second updates providing exact GPS locations, the event officials and security teams will closely scrutinize the movements of each major asset on numerous 52-inch LCD monitors delivering aerial maps with vehicle markers moving in real time.

While competing products may update asset location once every two or more minutes, USFT systems updates its locations every five or 10 seconds.

“The difference is huge,” according to Hunter. “The accuracy of the location marker on the map directly correlates to how often the device transmits.”

Live GPS tracking of everything that moves at marquis events is not new for USFT. As well as its Super Bowl presence, teaming with SP Plus Gameday for seven straight years, such stand-alone high-profile sporting events as the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympic games in London have benefitted from USFT's technology and staff. At the recent 2012 Republican National Convention, USFT and SP Plus Gameday also lent logistical expertise.

More than 500 USFT devices will be in use the week of the Super Bowl, during the game, and after the victor is crowned, monitoring such data as location and movement, and even implementing such new features to the Company’s system as Weather Overlay and traffic. This allows for strategic decisions to be made on the fly, or in pro-active route planning.

US Fleet Tracking, located in Oklahoma City, is the leader in live vehicle and asset tracking, providing groundbreaking sub-ten-second live tracking. In addition to expertise in tracking commercial vehicles, the company has provided tracking services to high-profile, large-scale public events. These include the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, 2012 Republican National Convention, Super Bowls XLI through XLVII, and the 2010 Winter Olympics.
